Algeria purchased new harvest wheat at a tender cheaper than in March

The Algerian state grain agency OAIS, in an international tender on May 6, where it planned to purchase 50 thousand tons of milling wheat, contracted about 390-420 thousand tons of wheat for delivery on July 1-15 and July 16-31, 2026.

According to traders, purchase prices were $268-270/t C&F, and the bulk of the wheat purchased at $270/t C&F will be of Black Sea origin.

The tender results confirm the high demand for Black Sea wheat from Algeria, one of the world's largest importers, especially after mid-2024, when the country refused to import French grain due to political tensions.

Recall that in a previous tender at the end of March, the Algerian agency OAIC purchased 700 thousand tons of wheat at a price of $272/ton C&F.
