Conab agency predicts Brazil will harvest a record 178 million tons of soybeans

According to the forecast of the Conab agency, Brazilian farmers will harvest a record 177.64 million tons of soybeans in the 2025/26 MY (almost in line with September estimates), which will exceed the harvest of the previous season by 6 million tons.

Soybean plantings are expected to increase by 3.6% year-on-year to 49 million hectares (121.081 million acres), and exports are expected to exceed 112 million tons as the United States reduces soybean exports amid a trade war with China.

According to Conab, farmers in the state of Paraná planted the most soybeans, at 31% of the planned area, while the leading agricultural state of Mato Grosso planted 18.9%. In most regions, land preparation has already been completed, and farmers are waiting for the resumption of rains, which are expected to begin in the second half of October.

Conab experts have almost not changed the forecast for the corn harvest in Brazil compared to September estimates, leaving it at 138.6 million tons. Sown areas will reach 22.68 million hectares, which will exceed last year's figure by 3.9%.

The second crop of corn, which is grown after the soybean harvest on the same areas, will amount to 113.2 million tons in the new season. The second crop makes up the majority of Brazil's corn production, and it is mostly exported in the second half of the year.
