According to UKAB estimates, the losses of Ukrainian farmers in 2023 reached 3 billion dollars

"Ukrainian agricultural industry ends the year with a high yield and significant losses at the same time," said Oleg Khomenko, general director of the Ukrainian Agrarian Business Club (UKAB).

According to the most optimistic forecasts of UKAB, the losses of farmers will reach $3 billion, since the cultivation of all crops, except soybeans, turned out to be unprofitable.

As a result of the shortage of storage capacity, part of the corn (up to 15% according to preliminary estimates of UKAB) will be left in the fields until spring, therefore, under the influence of external factors, a lot of grain will spoil.

At the same time, thanks to the favorable weather, farmers obtained a high yield of products, although due to the lack of fertilizers and the insignificant use of fertilization technologies, most of the grown wheat had low food indicators and fodder quality.

The chairman of UKAB could not name the amount of damages caused by the blocking of sea exports and crossings at the border with Poland, but he noted that the export revenue of this matter will decrease significantly, even despite the increase in natural volumes of exports at the end of the calendar year.

We will remind that in 2022, Ukraine exported agricultural products worth almost 23 billion dollars.
