From February 20, Polish farmers will block all checkpoints on the border with Ukraine

Polish farmers reported that during the 30-day general strike of farmers from February 20, all checkpoints on the border with Ukraine will be blocked and protests will be held on the ground. The organizer of the protest actions is the "Solidarity" trade union, which opposes the uncontrolled arrival of agricultural products from Ukraine after the opening of borders by the European Union.

Farmers believe that the lack of appropriate regulation of goods reduces the profitability of the agricultural sector in Poland, as well as related processing and other industries.

"Solidarity" warned that not only border checkpoints will be blocked, but also nodes of transport infrastructure and entrances to seaports and transshipment railway stations.

Protesters also express their disagreement with EU regulations related to the "Green Deal" - a set of EU laws aimed at achieving climate neutrality by Europe by 2050. These laws provide, among other things, restrictions on the use of pesticides and fertilizers.
