The All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council demands that permission to increase the maximum area of agricultural land purchase be postponed

The All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council (VAR) public union initiated the "Protect the Ukrainian Village" petition, which, on behalf of thousands of domestic agricultural producers, demands to postpone for two years after the end of the war the permission to increase the maximum area of agricultural land allowed for sale in one hand from 100 to 10,000 hectares

The head of the VAR, Andriy Dykun, registered a petition on the website of the President of Ukraine on November 3, and in just 20 days, it gained more than 25,000 votes, so now the President is obliged to respond to it.

"For the first time in the history of Ukraine, a petition from the agrarian community gained 25,000 votes in just 20 days, which indicates the support of Ukrainians for the VAR initiative. We thank all concerned citizens for their activity, responsibility and solidarity, and we await the President's decision and hope for a meaningful and quick response. Agrarians are concerned about the question: "Who during the war in Ukraine has the funds to buy 10,000 hectares of land?" Who are these people who don't know that all the funds should first of all go to help the Armed Forces, so that they can win back the occupied lands and defeat the enemy?", - emphasizes A. Dykun.

He emphasizes that under the current conditions, small and medium-sized agribusinesses, which are the basis of the agricultural sector of Ukraine, will not be able to become participants in the land market.

"During the war, Ukrainian farmers are experiencing the most difficult times for the entire period of Independence and have been working at a loss for the second year due to blocked ports, logistical problems and low grain prices. Some enterprises have been destroyed, lands are mined, some territories are occupied, so medium and small agribusinesses do not have funds and the ability to attract loans for the purchase of the land on which they work. Under such conditions, increasing the maximum area of agricultural land allowed to be purchased in one hand will lead to the fact that oligarchs and corrupt people will buy it for nothing. Therefore, today it is extremely important to protect the interests of farmers, who give their last funds to support the Armed Forces, and not those who make money from war and corruption," the petition reads.
