Ukrzaliznytsia named the terminals through which exports go to the western border

Russia's prolonged aggression against Ukraine in the southern and eastern regions has blocked all Ukrainian seaports, so traders are looking for ways to redirect export supplies to the EU by rail or use Romanian ports to ship cargo.

Ukrzaliznytsia is actively developing new freight trains and is already offering exporters to reload grain at 12 terminals, including:

  • on the border with Poland - terminals at the border crossings "Mostyska-2", "Yagotyn", "Izov",
  • on the border with Romania - crossings "Dyakovo-2", "Vadul-Siret",
  • on the border with Moldova - crossings "Reni-Giurgiu" and "Mogilev-Podolsky", from which you can send cargo to the port of Reni,
  • Uzhhorod and Chop crossings on the border with Slovakia.

Currently, most cars have accumulated at the three main border crossings. Thus, as of March 28, 2022, there are 9772 cars on Izov (in the direction of Poland), 5845 cars on Uzhhorod (Slovakia), and 2960 cars on Chop (Slovakia).

Terminals located on the western borders of Ukraine allow transshipment of 1 million tons of grain per month, but European railways are not ready to supply their wagons for reloading in such quantities that leads to delays in the shipment and reloading of wagons from Ukraine. In order to stabilize the export of agricultural products to Ukraine, it is necessary to increase the volume of shipments across the western border to at least 5 million tons of grain per month.
