In February, Ukraine increased the export of agricultural products by 3.4% to 8 million tons

In February 2024, Ukraine increased exports of agricultural products by 3.4% compared to January to 8 million tons, but not all products physically crossed the border during the specified period, and part of the transport is in the queue for departure.

In terms of crops, the export volume changed as follows:

• grain crops - increased by 9% to 5.8 million tons (of which corn 53%, wheat - 44%, barley - 4%),
• oilseed crops – decreased by 22% to 599.3 thousand tons (of which soybeans – 54%, rapeseed – 41%, sunflower – 4%),
• vegetable oils - decreased by 3% to 646.1 thousand tons (of which sunflower - 93%, soybean - 4%, rapeseed - 2%),
• cakes after oil extraction - decreased by 7% to 551.7 thousand tons (of which sunflower - 90%, soybean - 10%),
• other types of agricultural products - decreased by 2% to 382.5 thousand tons.

That is, the export of the main types of agricultural products decreased, with the exception of grain crops. The export of oil crops fell the most (by 22%), which is due to the reduction of available volumes for export, especially rapeseed.

Export figures would have been much better if the Polish strikers had not blocked the border. Queues at the border lead to a reduction in exports and additional losses for Ukrainian farmers.

Timely receipt of funds from the sale of own products is very important for agricultural producers on the eve of the spring sowing campaign, because it will allow them to carry out quality work to provide Ukraine and other countries with food.
