In January, the export of agricultural products from Ukraine almost reached the level of December

According to UKAB data, in January 2024, Ukraine exported 7.7 million tons of agricultural products, which is only 0.3% less than in December 2023. It is worth noting that not all products physically crossed the border, and a certain amount, already loaded into transport, remains in queues for departure.

Compared to December, the export volumes of the main commodity items changed as follows:

  • grain crops - fell by 1% to 5.3 million tons, of which corn accounted for 63%, wheat - 30%, barley - 6%,
  • of oil crops - fell by 1% to 765 thousand tons, of which rapeseed accounted for 52%, soybeans - 40%, sunflower - 7%,
  • vegetable oils - fell by 6% to 664.5 thousand tons, of which sunflower oil accounted for 92%, soybean oil - 5%, rapeseed oil - 3%,
  • cakes - increased by 20% to 591.1 thousand tons, of which sunflower made up 92%, soybean - 8%,
  • other types of agricultural products - fell by 2% to 391.6 thousand tons.

The main trends in January exports were an increase in the supply of rapeseed compared to other oilseed crops and sunflower cake. If usually by the New Year, the main volumes of rapeseed have already been exported, this year active deliveries continued in January. And the work of the sea corridor helped to intensify the export of cake to China.

Stable export of agricultural products allows farmers to be provided with financial resources for economic activity, therefore it is important to continue to increase the volume of supplies. After all, the food security of not only Ukraine, but also many other countries depends on the functioning of the Ukrainian agricultural sector.
