Poland stated that the information about the "overflow" of ports with Ukrainian grain is false

The other day, information spread in the public space of Poland that the country's ports are overflowing with Ukrainian grain in transit, as a result of which local farmers cannot sell their products. But the Polish analyst Myroslav Marciniak told why this information is false.

According to him, after the active transshipment of grain at the beginning of the season in July-December, Polish ports were already loaded by only 60% in January-February, and 534 and 566 thousand tons were transshipped during these months, respectively, and wheat exports decreased the most.

In January-February, Ukraine exported 515,000 tons of grain and oil crops across the border with Poland, of which Polish consumers received only 23,300 tons of soybeans and 723 tons of barley, i.e. a total of 24,300 tons of products.

The main recipients of Ukrainian grain transiting through Poland during this period were:

  • Germany — 195.4 thousand tons,
  • The Netherlands — 58.3 thousand tons,
  • Lithuania and Latvia — 21.8 thousand tons.

Ukrainian grain was sent to the specified countries mainly by rail, and another 205,000 tons of agricultural products were exported through Polish ports, which is approximately 100,000 tons per month and corresponds to 10% of the port's transshipment capacity.

Currently, Ukraine is actively increasing exports through the Black Sea ports, therefore, in the coming months, it will significantly reduce the transit of its grain through Poland. After the sea corridor began to work around the clock, the volume of product exports could increase by 20%.
