In 2023, almost $100 million was invested in the infrastructure of Danube ports
"During 11 months of the current year, the Danube ports handled a record 31 million tons of products, and almost $100 million was invested in their infrastructure, thanks to which 23 new private transshipment terminals were opened," Prime Minister D. Shmyhal said at the government meeting December 22.
He said that this year, Ukraine finally resolved the disputed issue with Romania, which related to the fulfillment of the requirements of the ESPO Convention during the construction of the Danube-Black Sea canal. The disputes lasted for about 20 years and had a negative impact on the process of European integration of Ukraine and the development of infrastructure projects.
"We systematically solved this issue by fulfilling our European integration obligations, which allowed us to unblock the process of building the Danube infrastructure for both Romania and Ukraine," Shmyhal said.
We will remind that Nibulon stopped the construction of a mill in the port of Izmail due to constant attacks from the Russian Federation.
"Ukrainian Danube ports, in the event of the introduction of modern production automation technologies, can compete strongly with Black Sea ports," Oleksandr Todurov, head of the marketing department of the Art Port company, said in an interview with APC-Inform.
"According to the results of the work of the last two years, it can be said that the new terminals offer customers better conditions, gaining a place in the cargo transshipment market. Having gained experience in the application of new technologies for grain handling, they will be able to work with other cargoes in the future. In terms of the level of information services, at least, in the near future they will become an example and competitors for the ports and terminals of Great Odesa. And in case of improvement of road and railway logistics in the territory of Bessarabia, the Danube ports will become strong competitors for the Black Sea ports", - believes O. Todurov.
