In 2023, Ukraine imported the largest amount of fertilizers in 2 years

For 10 months of the current year, Ukraine imported almost 2 million tons of fertilizers, which is the largest indicator of the last two years. Experts expect that fertilizer consumption will also be a record this year.

Nitrogen fertilizers accounted for the lion's share of imports, and the share of NPK and NP fertilizers increased significantly compared to 2022.

Currently, the import of fertilizers is:

• N – 1030.4 thousand tons,
• NPK – 442.7 thousand tons,
• NP – 337.9 thousand tons,
• K – 133.5 thousand tons.

New companies appeared among the largest importers, and already known importers improved their positions.

Note that these ratings evaluate the physical amount of purchased fertilizers, while the ratings in monetary terms will be slightly different. Against the background of a decrease in world prices, Ukraine began to buy higher-quality fertilizers with a high percentage of active substances, expanding the geography of imports.
