During the week, agricultural markets will be affected by heat in the USA and precipitation in the EU, Ukraine and Brazil
In the main exporting countries, the weather is mostly favorable for crops, and only in the USA another heat wave without significant precipitation worsens the harvest prospects.
Over the weekend in the Midwest and the US Plains, temperatures will rise to 33-35 o C, which will negatively affect soybean crops, but will accelerate the drying of corn. A storm front will bring showers and cooler temperatures from the north next week, but the rains will not be heavy, so crop potential will continue to decline.
In the Canadian prairies, a front from the north will bring rains that will delay the harvest of canola and spring wheat, but will help soybeans and corn.
In the central regions of Brazil, there are separate showers, which began long before the usual rainy season (September - October). Farmers started sowing corn earlier than usual, which will contribute to obtaining a good first and second harvest of corn. In the south of the country, rains delay the harvesting of second-crop corn, but improve the condition of wheat crops, the production of which this season could become a record.
Much of Argentina will see heavy rains later in the week that will ease the drought ahead of soybean and corn planting in October. The El Nino phenomenon is considered favorable for the country, as it increases rainfall ahead of spring planting.
Rains in Eastern Europe contributed to the development of late crops, especially corn, and improved soil moisture reserves ahead of winter sowing. Warm and dry weather next week will speed up sunflower harvesting and winter rape seeding.
Rains and thunderstorms came to Ukraine, which reduced the heat, which will facilitate the sowing of winter rapeseed, the optimal period of which lasts from the end of August to the beginning of September. During the next few days, rains will pass in the central and southern regions, which will reduce the impact of heat on crops. Moderate temperatures with occasional rainfall will allow harvesting of soybeans and sunflowers to begin.
In the south-west of the Russian Federation, hot weather has a negative effect on sunflower and corn crops. And next week, dry and hot weather will remain in part of the Black Sea region.
In south-east Australia, canola and winter wheat crops are entering the bulking phase, and reduced soil moisture over the past few months is reducing yield potential. Temperatures will be moderate over the next week, but no significant precipitation is expected. The El Nino phenomenon brings dry weather with higher than normal temperatures to the country.
