On Friday, June 16, the State Statistics Service published the final data on the 2022 harvest of grain and oil crops in Ukraine.

 

The total gross collection of grain and leguminous crops decreased by 37.4% compared to the previous year to 53.864 million tons, the area to be harvested by 23.9% to 12.171 million hectares, and the average yield by 15% to 45.8 tons/ Ha.

 

In terms of crops, the harvest decreased compared to 2021:

  • wheat - by 35.5% to 20.73 million tons,
  • barley - by 41.6% to 5.608 million tons,
  • corn - by 37.8% to 26.19 million tons,
  • rye - by 47.1% to 314 thousand tons,
  • triticale - by 16% to 27.1 thousand tons,
  • millet - by 55.8% to 90.1 thousand tons,
  • oats – by 19.1% to 378.5 thousand tons,
  • rice - by 93.8% to 3.1 thousand tons,
  • sorghum - by 76.7% to 40.3 thousand tons,
  • other leguminous crops - by 50.9% to 334.2 thousand tons,
  • sugar beets - by 30.9% to 9.94 million tons.

 

Buckwheat was the only cereal crop whose production increased in 2022. Its harvest grew by 39.6% compared to the previous year to 147.7 thousand tons.

 

Sunflower production in 2022 was also down 30.9% from 2021 to 11.33 million tons, while soybean harvest was down just 1.4% to 3.444 million tons, nearly matching the previous year's level. At the same time, rapeseed production increased by 12.9% to 3.32 million tons.
