A bill to promote the use of biofuels in Ukraine to 2018

According to the Saee, in the near future revised draft law on the market of bioethanol and biodiesel will be submitted for registration and consideration in the Verkhovna Rada.

the state Agency has developed a draft law which creates a legal basis for stimulating the production and use of bioethanol and biodiesel from domestic raw materials.

the Bill proposes to create a guaranteed market of bioethanol and biodiesel, which is necessary to define the required share of biocomponents in the total volume realized in Ukraine of motor fuels, in particular bioethanol is less than 3.4% (energy) from 1 July 2018 and 4.8% (energy) from 1 July 2019; biodiesel — not less than 2.7% (energy) from 1 July 2018.

in addition, the bill provides for the registration and control of the content of biocomponents in motor fuels, as well as responsibility for non-compliance.

According to the Chairman of the Saee Serhiy Savchuk, the annual production capacity of liquid biofuels in Ukraine is 1 million tons.
