The volume of exports through the "grain corridor" is reduced due to the delay in inspections by the Russian Federation

During the week of June 19-25, the volume of exports of agricultural products through the "grain corridor" from the ports of Odesa decreased by 18% compared to the previous week to 358.3 thousand tons, and the number of loaded ships - by 3 to 6 units. However, even loaded vessels continue to wait in line for inspection, - reports the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UKAB).

Export volumes will remain low next week as only 6 ships passed port entry inspection last week.

The main export items for the period of the 47th week of operation of the grain corridor were:

  • corn (68% of all exports),
  • wheat (32%).

The main buyers in this period were the countries of Europe (Spain and the Netherlands), Asia (China and Indonesia) and Africa (Egypt).

In general, from August 1, 2022 (the beginning of the grain corridor) to June 25, 2023, they managed to export 32.4 million tons of agricultural products.

Currently, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, together with participants of the grain market, is developing alternative export options in the event of the termination of the grain agreement, which involve increasing the transshipment of agricultural products through the Danube ports. There is also a plan B for the restoration of exports without the participation of the Russian Federation through the provision by Ukraine of guarantees for insurance companies regarding compensation for possible losses in the event of damage to ships.
