Due to the reduction of the production forecast barley prices in Ukraine are growing
Collection of spring barley in Ukraine delayed rainfall that continued for more than a week. This increases the supply shortage due to low crop forecast and leads to higher prices in the ports.
Traders in a hurry to fulfill export contracts and actively raise prices in order to attract as large parties. During the week the price of feed barley in the port increased by 200-250 UAH/t and reached 6050-6100 UAH/t or 195-196 $/t
As of July 20, with 98% of the planned area produced 2.8 MMT of winter barley with a yield of 3.5 t/ha, and 33% of the area harvested 980 thousand tons of spring barley with a yield of 1.94 t/ha.
it is Expected that the gross harvest of barley in Ukraine will not exceed 7 million tons, and exports will amount to 3.9 million tons.
Russia also started harvesting barley. Now harvested 2.4 million tons with a yield of 3.2 t/ha against of 3.97 t/ha in 2017. The forecast of gross yield reduced by 15%.
