Bulgaria has begun agreeing export licenses for Ukrainian sunflower producers

At the meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of Ukraine and Bulgaria, Mykola Solskyi and Kyril Vatev, which took place in mid-December, the issue of exporting Ukrainian agricultural products to Bulgaria was discussed, in particular, the mechanism of supplying sunflowers under licenses.

Bulgaria has now begun to agree on licenses for the export of sunflower from Ukraine, and a certain part of domestic producers have already contracted supplies for January-February at a price of $410-440/t with delivery to buyers.

According to estimates of the Ministry of Agriculture of Bulgaria, the sunflower harvest in 2023 will decrease by 21% compared to the previous year to 1.62 million tons due to a decrease in the area sown by 6% to 860.04 thousand hectares and a decrease in the average yield by 16% to 0.189 tons/ha .

As of December 8, sunflower stocks in Bulgaria amounted to 1.5 million tons, wheat – 3.4 million tons, corn – 1.8 million tons.
