the Construction of Ilyichevsk sea fishing port was started in 1968. The water area of the port was formed by deepening of the Sukhoi Liman and devices approach channel through the sand spit which separates the estuary from the Black sea. The first vessel entered the Port in 1971. To 1996 Ilyichevsk sea fishing port was used mainly for the handling of food (usually fish). This is because Ilyichevsk sea fishing port was initially founded to service the fish processing fleets “Antarctic”. And, correspondingly, the infrastructure of the Port was designed for the transshipment of sea fishery products. The change of external and internal factors gave rise to a completely new to the fishing port of tasks in processing of steel products, General cargo, bulk cargo and large shipping containers.
IMC is located 20 kilometers South of Odessa. The area of the port is 40,0 Hectares. After the reconstruction of the depth at the berths up to 14,5 m. today, at the entrance to the waters of the port they are 14.5 m and at berth to 11.0 m, which allows to serve ships of any carrying capacity.
the Length of the berth line of the port is up to 1200 meters. Ten deep-water berths equipped with nine gantry cranes with lifting capacity from 3 to 140 tons. Illichevsk Sea Fishing port has good rail and road links with the main highways of Ukraine and the CIS and has a railway branch line connecting it with the ferry crossing Ilichevsk - Varna. The nearest railway station Ilyichevsk - Ferry 5 kilometres from the port. Daily throughput capacity of railway lines is about 180 cars. The capacity of the station is 400 cars. The port is open for gig vessels all the year round. Specialized transshipment complexes of the Port are equipped with modern equipment, transshipment machines and mechanisms, providing processing designer goods with high performance and latest technology.
