From June Ukrzaliznytsia to raise tariffs for freight by 22%

Chairman of the Board of PJSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" Wojciech Balczun announced the company's intention to increase from June of the current year freight value by 22.5%.

"In the revised draft financial plan of the company provides change of tariffs for passenger transportations. Today, however, there is a need to increase shipping costs. Since June of this year, we will adjust the freight rates of 22.5%, which will lead to the largest in the history of the activities of the company's capital investments in the amount of UAH 22.7 billion, most of which will be spent on the acquisition of rolling stock, which is now sorely lacking," - said the head of the company.

Capital investment company will open new jobs at the Ukrainian enterprises and will contribute to the development of the domestic economy. If tariffs are not indexed, the company will have to abandon the programs of capital investments that will adversely affect various sectors of the economy.

Today, the tariffs for shipping grain and oilseeds to port average 300-400 UAH/t, an increase of 22% will force traders to lower purchasing prices on the domestic elevators for 60-80 UAH/ton.

a Financial plan of Ukrzaliznytsia for 2017 does not provide for the construction of new wagons for transport of grain, so again, the question may arise of their deficit during the active export season.
