Ukraine in 2018, increased the import of palm oil

Ukraine in January imported 16,3 thousand tons of palm oil, while exports of these products during this period were not, according to DFS.

• Indonesia – 8.8 thousand tons,

in General in 2018, Ukraine imported 220 thousand tons of palm oil compared to 172 thousand tonnes in 2017 and 150 thousand tons in 2016. For two years the import of palm oil increased by 46.6%.

Recall that the national Parliament has already adopted in first reading a bill that would ban the use of palm oil in food production because local producers are thus trying to reduce the cost of products, including dairy.

In dairy products, especially butter, animal fats actively substitute vegetable – palm and coconut. The price of palm oil is 560-600 $/t, while butter is 3500-4000 $/t

Ukraine is gradually increasing imports of palm oil, though its regular consumption harms the cardiovascular system, causes diabetes and cancer.
