Increase of sunflower production to record levels at the level of 15 MT and above allowed Ukraine and Russia, who are world leaders in the production and export of sunflower oil, to increase production.

Russia in 2019 increased compared to the previous year the production of crude sunflower oil by 19.2% to 5.3 million t. in addition, the production of wheat and wheat-rye flour increased by 1.1% to 8.7 million tonnes, sugar beet – by 16.7% to 7.3 million tons, confectionery products – by 1.2% to 3.9 million tonnes While the production of bakery products non-durable storage in reduced.

In Ukraine, according to the state statistics service, in 2019 the production of sunflower oil and its fractions (excluding chemically median) in comparison with the previous year increased by 13.8% to 5,606 million tons. In December 2019, compared to December 2018, production of sunflower oil and its fractions (excluding chemically median) increased by 10.1% to 591 thousand tons.

In 2018, the production of sunflower crude oil was 4799,387 thousand tons, which is 7.7% lower than in 2017, when unrefined sunflower-seed oil and its fractions (excluding chemically median) was produced 5211,873 thousand tons.
