Ukraine accelerates grain export rate

In the current season, grain harvesting began three weeks later than last year, which led to a delay in exports and adjustments to shipment plans. However, as the harvest intensified, grain supplies to the port accelerated, especially due to rising prices.

According to the State Fiscal Service, in the 2021/22 season, as of August 4, Ukraine exported 3.3 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, which is 1.3% higher than last year's pace.

Thus, compared to the corresponding period last year, exports increased:

  • barley – by 16% to 1.2 million tons,
  • corn-twice, from 498 to 983 thousand tons,
  • rye-from 0.2 to 4.8 thousand tons.

At the same time, wheat exports decreased by 37% to 1.05 million tons, and flour – by 40% to 13 thousand tons.

Recall that in my 2020/21, Ukraine exported 44.6 million tons of grain and leguminous crops, namely:

  • wheat – 16.6 million tons,
  • barley – 4.2 million tons,
  • corn – 23.1 million tons,
  • Rye – 17.1 thousand tons,
  • flour – 126.9 thousand tons.
