In June India reduced imports of vegetable oils by 17%

According to experts from the Solvent Extractors' Association of India, in June, India reduced imports of vegetable oils to 996 thousand tons compared to 1.25 million tons in the previous month (-17% per month) and 1.2 million tons that were purchased in the same period last year.

According to the data, India in June reduced imports of palm oil by 23.6% – to 587.5 thousand tons against 769.6 thousand tons in May, soy - by 23%, to 206.2 (267.8) thousand tons. imports of sunflower oil remained stable and amounted, according to experts, to 175.7 thousand tons (175.76 thousand tons in May).

It should be borne in mind that India imported the main volume of palm oil from Malaysia-268.7 thousand tons of crude palm oil and 3.2 thousand tons of refined oil, and also purchased 250.2 thousand tons of crude oil from Indonesia and 57.9 thousand tons from Thailand.

Sunflower oil in June was imported from Ukraine (117.7 thousand tons), Russia (32 thousand tons) and Argentina (32 thousand tons), soybeans – from Argentina (165 thousand tons) and Brazil (41.2 thousand tons).

In total, since the beginning of the current MY (November-June), India has increased imports of vegetable oils to 8.67 million tons, as it turned out to be 5% higher than in the same period last season (8.26 million tons).
