The tender in Jordan set a new benchmark for prices on barley

Jordanian tender for purchase of barley showed the benchmark price minimum for barley of the new harvest.

the Ministry of industry and trade of Jordan announced on 6 February, the tender for purchase of 120 thousand tons of feed barley for delivery in late July – early August, applications for which were submitted by 10 companies. However, the tender was cancelled because the bid prices exceeded 215 $/MT C&F, which did not suit the organizers.

tenders 23 and 30 January, Jordan was able to force traders to reduce prices of barley of the new harvest. So, on January 23, were purchased 60 thousand tons of barley of arbitrary origin with delivery in the 2nd half of June at a price 223,2 $/MT C&F Aqaba, which was at 35 $/t lower than at the previous auction.

And on January 30, has purchased 60 thousand tons of barley of arbitrary origin with delivery in the 2nd half of July at a price of 218 $/MT C&F Aqaba.

On February 12 announced a new tender, where it is planned to purchase 120 thousand tons of feed barley with delivery in the period 16-30 Jun 1-15 Jul 16-31 Jul 1-15 Aug.

Such tender offer traders the benchmarks of prices for grain of new harvest. It is clear that the price of barley of the new harvest will be 220-225 $/t on terms of delivery to a buyer that will match the level 180-185 $/MT Ukrainian ports.

However, the world price could affect Saudi Arabia, which is the largest importer, accepting tenders, significant quantities of barley. So, in February and March of 2018, it has acquired two batches of barley, so that prices rose by 15-20 $/t
