Sowing 2017: Ukraine spring grains planted 5.5 million hectares
As of 05.05.17 Ukrainian agrarians sowed spring grains and leguminous crops 76% of the planned areas, or 5.5 million hectares.
Early grains planted 98% of the planned, or 2.3 million hectares, in particular:
- spring wheat – 167 thousand hectares, accounting for 94% of planned planting 178 hectares
- barley – 1.5 million hectares or 95% of the planned 1.6 million hectares
- oats – 197 thousand hectares or 95% of the planned 211 thousand hectares,
- peas – 378 thousand hectares or 114% of the planned 330 thousand ha.
in addition, on a specified date planted:
- corn, 3.1 million ha or 69% of the planned 4.5 million hectares
- buckwheat 18 thousand hectares or 13% of the planned 145 thousand hectares,
- millet 11 thousand ha or 14% of the planned 81 thousand hectares,
- sugar beet – 305 thousand hectares or 104% of the planned 293 thousand hectares,
- sunflower 3.8 million hectares, or 70% of the planned 5.4 million hectares,
- soy – 793 thousand hectares, or 41% of the planned 1.9 million hectares.
examination of the crops showed that of sown winter crops of 7.17 million hectares of seedlings obtained by 7.15 million hectares, of which 0.5% or 37 thousand hectares were lost. Vegetation continues by 7.12 million hectares, of which in good and satisfactory condition is 90% or 6.41 million hectares, in weak and liquefied – 10% or a 0.71 thousand hectares.
planted winter rape 898 thousand hectares of shoots were obtained on 893 thousand hectares, of which 7% or 67 thousand hectares were lost. Vegetation continues to 827 thousand ha, of which in good and satisfactory condition is 86% or 712 thousand hectares, in weak and liquefied – 14%, or 114 thousand hectares.
Further development of the plants will depend on weather conditions during the growing season and timely care of crops.
