Precipitation held in Ukraine, contribute to the development of winter crops

According to information obtained from farmers, precipitation, held in most regions of Ukraine in the first decade of October, will have a positive impact on the sowing and growing season of winter crops. Because of this, the farmers hope to get timely germination and also expect a satisfactory development of plants of winter crops that will allow them to overwinter and to restore vegetation in the spring.

According to the Ministry of agrarian policy of Ukraine, as of October 6, winter crops in Ukraine were sown 4,367 million hectares, representing 59% of the target. In addition, winter rapeseed was sown on 2% more than planned, that is 738 hectares.

Currently, the weather conditions slowed harvesting of late crops. Part of farmers were forced to suspend the collection of corn, sunflower and soybeans due to rainy weather.

Farmers have reported that in such conditions the moisture content of the obtained products will significantly exceed the norm. Therefore, before putting the crop in storage will need additional revision (drying) of the grain.
