Oil World predicts an increase of production of sunflower in the season 2016/17 MG

according to a new forecast German analysts Oil World, world production of sunflower seed in the current season will exceed prior expectations due to a higher gross collection culture in the countries of the Balkan Peninsula and the CIS. Now the harvest of sunflower in the CIS countries in the 2016/17 season MG is estimated at 26.3 million tonnes, 0.6 million tonnes higher than the previous forecast and 3.4 million tons exceeds the last year's results.

Assessment of sunflower production to the EU countries increased by 120 thousand tons to 8.3 million tons, 0.7 million tons higher than in the previous year. The increase in yield in the EU will be possible due to higher than previously expected, the gross harvest of sunflower in Bulgaria and Romania, which compensates for the reduction in harvests in France, Italy and Spain.

Despite the fact that the forecast of sunflower production in Argentina is reduced by 200 thousand tons to 3.55 million tons, it will still exceed last year's level of 2.85 million tons due to expanding acreage by 0.4 million hectares. However, the prospects of oilseed crops currently remains uncertain due to prolonged drought, which particularly affected crops in the province of Buenos Aires.

Ukraine in the current season collected a record harvest of sunflower in 13 million. Significant gross yield allows to restrain the growth of prices for sunflower, due to the growth of volumes of processing of seeds and sunflower oil export from Ukraine in season 2016/17 MG. Now the price of sunflower is 10700-11000 UAH/t with delivery to the plant and 10300-10400 UAH/t on the domestic elevators.
