Even increased sales did not stop the collapse of exchange prices for wheat

Yesterday, wheat prices on world stock exchanges and in Ukraine fell sharply amid improving weather conditions in the main exporting countries.

On the US stock exchanges, spring wheat prices, which have been actively growing in recent weeks, turned down yesterday, which was a signal for a decline in other wheat quotes. After a rapid 6-day increase, soft wheat futures in Chicago fell 2.7% yesterday, and durum wheat futures in Kansas – 2.3%, without even reacting to data on increased export sales.

Export sales of wheat from the United States for the week increased by 11.4% to 473 thousand tons (of which 135 thousand tons were purchased by China), which was in line with expert expectations. In the new season, export sales amounted to 7.59 million tons, which is 14.2% lower than the corresponding indicator of my 2021/22. Actual exports for the week increased by 28.7% to 471 thousand tons, and in general in the season amounted to 2.38 million tons.

September US futures fell:

• by 6 6.80 / ton to Чикаго 254.35/ton for soft winter SRW wheat in Chicago,
• by 5 5.51/ton to.240.21 / ton for hard winter HRW wheat in Kansas City.

Hard spring HRS wheat rose in price by 2 2.30/ton to 3 332.16/ton in Minneapolis.

Black Sea wheat futures on the Chicago Stock Exchange also fell yesterday:

• August-by 2 2.75 / ton to 2 248.75 / ton,
• December-by 4 4 / ton to.263 / ton.

Accelerating harvesting in Europe increases pressure on new crop prices, and traders increase speculative sales.

• September wheat flour futures for MATIF fell by €3.75/ton to €210/ton or € 247.21 / ton.

Against the background of a sharp collapse in wheat prices on world stock exchanges yesterday, purchase prices for wheat in Ukrainian ports decreased by 5 5-10/ton to the level of the beginning of the week of 2 210-212/ton or UAH 6750-6800/ton.

In the central regions of Ukraine, during harvesting, wheat affected by Fusarium is found, and with a nature below 700 g/l, but in general, the quality and yield of grain is quite high.
