Import of oilseeds in the EU in 2017/18 MG was 6.5 million tonnes

According to the service of the European Commission on monitoring of the agricultural markets, during July 1 – November 21 this year, imports of oilseeds in the EU amounted to 6.5 million tons.

compared To the previous season's soybean imports decreased by 9% to 4.7 million tons, sunflower – 45% to 178 thousand tons, but imports of rapeseed increased by 70% to 1.6 million tons.

the Main buyers of soybeans are Spain (imported 1.2 million tonnes) and the Netherlands (1.3 million tonnes). Canola likely to buy Netherlands – 525,9 million tonnes, and sunflower – Romania (72,4 thousand tons).

the Main suppliers of oilseeds to the EU are:

• US – 1,77 million tons of soybeans,
• Brazil – 1.62 million tons of soybeans,
• Ukraine – 1,31 million tons of rape,
• Moldova – 121 thousand tons of sunflower seeds.

in this season 2017/18 EU countries exported 160,6 thousand tons of soybeans, 104,6 thousand tons of rape and 95.4 thousand tons of sunflower.
